BCCI Announces Nomination Process for IPL Council Seats

In a formal communication dated August 30, the BCCI outlined the procedural steps for nominating candidates to the IPL Governing Council. The notice, issued by election officer A.K. Joti, specifies that full members of the board must submit applications to place their state representatives on the electoral roll.

State cricket associations are required to file nomination papers for the two vacant council seats between September 9 and 10. Once submitted, the nominations will be scrutinized for eligibility, and any objections will be addressed by September 8. A definitive list of candidates will be released on September 12, allowing the AGM on September 18 to proceed with either an uncontested election or a voting process if additional candidates emerge.

The council, which currently includes four elected members from the BCCI General Assembly, two appointed officials, and three ex‑officio members, plays a pivotal role in managing the Indian Premier League. The transparent nomination timeline aims to ensure fairness and maintain confidence among stakeholders ahead of the league’s upcoming season.
