Double Injury Blow for Bayern After Dortmund Draw

Munich, November 1: Bayern Munich's hopes of maintaining their Bundesliga advantage took a hit after a 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund, as the club were left to deal with two injuries to key players.

Ismail Saibari has ruptured the syndesmotic ligament in his right ankle and underwent surgery, which was successful. Serge Gnabry has an injury to the back of his left thigh.

The club confirmed the news on Sunday, noting that both players will miss time. Saibari was hurt during Saturday's match at the Allianz Arena after a collision with Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.

The Moroccan international was seen leaving the stadium on crutches. Gnabry was also substituted in the first half, departing about three minutes after Saibari's exit.

The double change altered Bayern's plans in a game where they had hoped to build on their advantage over Dortmund.

Bayern's statement said both players would be sidelined for a period. Michael Olise was another player who left the field with an injury in the final moments of the match.

Despite the injuries, Bayern led twice, through Konrad Laimer and Dayot Upamecano. Dortmund drew level each time, with Serhou Guirassy and Fabio Silva playing key roles in the 2-2 result.

Bayern had the opportunity to take all three points. Harry Kane's second-half penalty hit the crossbar, and Bayern's shots struck the goalposts three times during the match.

The draw leaves Bayern top of the Bundesliga table with 18 points, ahead of Dortmund on goal difference. Their next test is a Champions League fixture against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.
