Bangladesh Squad Updated for Sylhet Test After Concussion Rule

Dhaka, October 31: Amit Hasan has been named in Bangladesh's 15-player squad for the second Test against West Indies. He has come into the side in place of Mominul Haque, who cannot feature in the match because of the mandatory concussion rules.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board made the announcement on Saturday. The Test is scheduled to be played in Sylhet, and the squad change was made to comply with the mandatory break that follows a concussion.

According to the BCB, a player who has been concussed must stay out of the game for at least seven calendar days before being cleared to return. Mominul is still within this period and therefore misses the second Test.

The board's statement read that the rule is applied to protect player welfare and that no exceptions can be made under the protocol.

Najmul Hossain Shanto will captain the team, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz as his deputy. Other players selected are Shadman Islam, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Towhid Hridoy, Litton Das, Jaker Ali Anik, Naeem Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, Taijul Islam, Shoriful Islam, Mushfiqur Rahim, Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury.

Bangladesh lost the first Test by eight wickets and will now attempt to level the series. The second Test starts on November 5 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
