Bangladesh Drop to Fifth in WTC Table After Dhaka Test Defeat

Bangladesh have suffered a setback in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings following their eight-wicket defeat to West Indies in the first Test in Dhaka. The match was played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium and concluded on October 31.

After the loss, Bangladesh have dropped one place to fifth in the points table, with a win percentage of 47.62. India have gained from the result, moving up from fifth to fourth with a win percentage of 51.52.

West Indies, despite winning the match, are still placed eighth in the table. Their win percentage stands at 26.92.

Australia remain at the summit of the WTC standings with 75 per cent. New Zealand are second on 72.22 per cent, and South Africa are third with 66.67 per cent.

West Indies needed 170 runs to win and achieved the target for the loss of only two wickets. Brandon King's unbeaten 81 from 115 balls was the highlight of the chase. John Campbell scored 49, while Kavem Hodge remained not out on 31.

Bangladesh had been dismissed for 142 in their second innings, with Naeem Hasan the top scorer on 52.

Roston Chase took five wickets in Bangladesh's second innings, while Jomel Warrican claimed five in the first innings and four in the second.

Bangladesh had posted 272 in the first innings and West Indies replied with 245. The hosts had a 27-run first-innings lead, but it was not enough to prevent defeat.
