Bangladesh Chooses Bowling as Toss Goes Their Way Against India

At the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh won the toss against India in the Women’s Asia Cup semi‑final and immediately opted to bowl. Captain Nigar Sultana said the decision was driven by a desire to let her bowlers use the pitch conditions early on.

Sultana added that Bangladesh wants to keep the score low and execute their game plan flawlessly, emphasizing that this could be the last game of the tournament for either side.

India’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur responded that the team had initially thought about batting first but is ready to adjust based on the powerplay and match situation. She reminded that T20 cricket leaves no room for underestimating the opposition.

Both sides have shown strong form in the competition. India, unbeaten in the group stage, recorded large margins against Thailand (94 runs), Hong Kong and China (137 runs), and Pakistan (7 wickets). Bangladesh, after a 71‑run win over Indonesia, a narrow loss to Sri Lanka, and a 34‑run victory over the UAE, secured their semi‑final spot.

The two teams have faced each other 24 times before, with India winning 21 of those encounters. The semi‑final promises a high‑stakes clash for a place in the September 13 final.
