Balancing India's T20 lineup after Rana and Chakravarthy sidelined

The Indian cricket squad faced a major selection headache on 9 July when the BCCI confirmed that Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy are out of the remaining T20 fixtures against England. Both sustained hamstring injuries in the third T20 at Trent Bridge.

Rana had only recently returned from a knee operation that barred him from the recent World Cup win and the upcoming IPL season. Chakravarthy was still on a rehabilitation programme for a previous foot issue, training at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

With the duo unavailable, India’s management turned to pacer Krishna and off‑spinner Washington Sundar to fill the playing eleven. The side also misses Hardik Pandya (foot) and Nitesh Kumar Reddy (quadriceps), leaving the balance of the attack in question as the team prepares for the one‑day series starting 14 July in Birmingham, then moving to Cardiff and Lord's.

Fast‑bowling hopeful Prince Yadav is being considered for a slot in the ODI squad, highlighting the depth of India’s pace reservoir despite the injury setbacks.
