Michael Starc, the left‑handed Australian quick, secured a spot among the ten most successful Test bowlers after eclipsing South Africa’s Dale Steyn in the cumulative wicket rankings. The breakthrough came during the first Test of the Bangladesh series in South Mako, where Starc produced a lethal ten‑over spell that yielded six wickets for just 12 runs.

At 36, Starc’s record now stands at 441 wickets from 107 Tests and 205 innings, featuring 19 five‑for hauls and three ten‑for matches. His best innings figures are seven for 58.

Captain Pat Cummins opted to bowl first after winning the toss, allowing Starc to exploit the conditions and dismantle Bangladesh’s top order. The fifth wicket of that spell marked the moment he moved past Steyn’s 439, relegating the former South African star to 11th place.
