Asian Indoor Athletics Championships: India’s double blast in Asian Indoor Athletics Championships, Jyoti and Harmilan won gold

Asian Indoor Athletics Championships: Two Indian players won gold medals in the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Iran’s capital Tehran on Saturday. Jyoti Yaraji won gold medal in women’s 60 meter hurdles and Harmilan Bains won gold medal in 1500 meter race. Jyoti Yaraji improved her own national record in 60 meter hurdles by clocking 8.12 seconds. The 2022 Asian Games silver medalist in the 100 meters hurdles had achieved her best time of 8:13 seconds in the same event last year. She was the runner up then.

Let us tell you that earlier, 24 year old Jyoti had qualified for the finals by topping her heat with a time of 8:22 seconds. Jyoti Yaraji performed much better than Japan’s Asuka Tereda (8.21 seconds) in the final. Hong Kong’s Lui Lai Yiu (8:26 seconds) took third place. Jyoti is the current Asian outdoor champion in 100 meter hurdles. He had won the title in Bangkok last year. He won the silver medal in the Hangzhou Asian Games.

Harmilan Bains did wonders in 1500 meters

On the other hand, two-time Asian Games silver medalist Harmilan Bains did wonders in the women’s 1500 meters. He won the first gold medal for India with a time of 4:29.55. This improved India’s gold medal tally compared to last year, where Tajinderpal Singh Toor was the country’s only gold medalist.
