Asian Games 2026: India Secures Third Overall Bronze in Sepaktakraw

At the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, India added a third overall Sepaktakraw bronze to its collection when the men’s quad team defeated the competition for third place. After falling 0-2 to Japan in the semi‑finals (12-15, 13-15), India’s representatives – Malemnganba Singh Sorokhaibam, Ram Kumar Sharma, Bobby Kumar and Akash Yumnam, with Lokhon Singh Elangbam and Tekong Arun Sub as substitutes – rebounded to win the bronze medal match. The milestone follows earlier Sepaktakraw bronzes: men’s regu in Jakarta 2018 and women’s regu in Hangzhou 2023. In the preliminary round, India’s men topped Group A by overcoming Myanmar, Vietnam and Laos, while the women’s side finished fourth without a victory. The men’s regu squad placed third in Group B with a single win. Combined with golds in women's 75 kg weightlifting and archery, India’s medal haul in Nagoya stands at two gold, two silver and two bronze.
