Anthony Andrews to Lead Youth Development for India’s U‑17 Women

In a strategic move to strengthen its youth pipeline, the All India Football Federation named Anthony Andrews as assistant coach for the India Under‑17 women’s national team. Andrews, who also serves as head coach of East Bengal’s women’s squad, has a distinguished record that includes four Indian Women’s League championships and a landmark AFC Women’s Champions League group‑stage qualification. His appointment comes as the U‑17 side prepares for friendly fixtures against Uzbekistan on 27 and 30 August in Tashkent, followed by the AFC U‑17 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers in Malaysia from 5‑11 October. Andrews highlighted his commitment to nurturing talent, saying he will bring “winning culture, professionalism and high‑performance standards” from his club successes to the national program. He also emphasized that his previous work with players who have progressed to senior national duties gives him valuable insight into talent identification and player development.
