Anshul Kambhaj Set for ODI Debut as India Takes On West Indies in Chandigarh
New Chandigarh, 3 October – The third One Day International of the series pits India against the West Indies at the PCA Stadium, with the Indian side opting to bowl first after winning the toss.
Captain Shubman Gill, after the toss, praised the ground, saying it provides early assistance to bowlers but will become batting‑friendly later. He highlighted the relative inexperience of India's bowling unit, emphasizing that more exposure will improve their performance. The attack will feature Nitesh Reddy, Siraj, and the newest inclusion Anshul Kambhaj, who is set to make his ODI debut.
Kambhaj, already capped in Test cricket, was drafted into the squad to replace the injured star bowler Krishna. Virat Kohli presented him with his debut cap, underscoring the team's faith in his potential.
West Indies captain Shai Hope expressed a desire to bowl first and noted three changes in his side's composition.
India entered the match with a 2‑0 lead, having won the first two games convincingly. Gill recorded two centuries – one a double‑hundred – and both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli added a century each. The second ODI featured a towering Indian total of 406 runs, while the first was secured with an eight‑wicket victory, setting the stage for another high‑scoring showdown.
