Anisimova's Singapore Open Exit Opens Spot for Victoria Morvayova

Amanda Anisimova, the second‑seeded American, withdrew from the Singapore Open after sustaining a left‑wrist injury during practice. The 25‑year‑old was set to make her debut at the WTA 500 event after receiving a bye into the second round.

Her withdrawal allowed lucky loser Victoria Morvayova, a Slovakian player ranked 296, to take the vacant place in the main draw. Morvayova will now face Talya Gibson, who previously defeated Fiola Ferro.

Anisimova’s form this season has been inconsistent. She fell in the third round at the US Open to Anastasia Potapova, ending her run early. Despite a solid 22‑12 record for the 2026 tour season, the wrist problem threatens her chances of competing in the next stop of the Asian swing, the China Open.

Other highlights from the Singapore tournament include a dominant win by Jin Yu Wang over eighth seed Donna Vekic, and round‑of‑16 victories for Alisia Parks and Oleksandra Olinikoova.
