American Tennis Star Responds to Racist Remarks Over Point Replay Issue

Coco Gauff faced a barrage of racist comments on social media after the China Open incident. In her Instagram story, she addressed the hateful messages, calling them “madness” and insisting that she is not a cheat or a thief. Gauff reminded followers that the tournament briefing informs players that a point can be challenged if an external disruption occurs. She noted that had she lost the point, her opponent would have been equally entitled to request a replay. Gauff’s calm yet firm reply highlighted the need for respectful dialogue in sport and underscored that the rules governing point challenges are set by the governing bodies, not by individual players.
