Alcaraz’s recent wins set stage for Shanghai Masters bid
Carlos Alcaraz entered the Shanghai Masters with momentum after a successful run in Asia. The Japan Open victory, confirmed during a media session, left the Spaniard feeling mentally revitalised and ready for the next test. He stressed that maintaining physical health is crucial as he aims to add a Masters title to his season achievements.
The player’s 2026 résumé includes a quarter‑final finish at the US Open, where he was outplayed by Ben Shelton, and a championship win in Tokyo – his third tour‑level triumph of the year. Earlier in the calendar, Alcaraz secured titles at the Australian Open in Doha and the Qatar Open.
In addition to his own preparation, Alcaraz discussed his week of training with Holger Rune and offered encouragement to Daniel Altmaier, who is battling a complex injury. He noted that Altmaier’s road back to competition will be gradual but expressed confidence in his eventual return to form.
