Ajay Singh on India's Record Boxing Wins at Commonwealth 2026

New Delhi, August 2 – Speaking after the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Ajay Singh, head of the Boxing Federation of India, hailed the seven‑gold performance as the direct outcome of an athlete‑first policy that kept politics at bay and delivered world‑standard backing for every boxer.

"The athletes were given the best possible preparation – training camps, sports science, mental conditioning – everything they required to fight at the highest level," Singh said at a federation press conference. He added that the squad’s indomitable will to win and a deep hunger for success were crucial to their victories.

Gold‑medalists included Preeti (54 kg), Sakshi (51 kg), Jasmine (57 kg), Priya (60 kg), Arundhati Chaudhary (70 kg), Sachin Sivach (60 kg) and Ankur Pangal (80 kg). Silver came from Jadhumani Singh (55 kg), Lavlina Borghoen (75 kg) and heavyweight contender Narendra (90+ kg).

Singh also highlighted the robust bench strength, noting that India now has a solid first‑line team along with capable backups, giving confidence for future multi‑sport events such as the Asian Games and the Olympics.

The seven golds eclipse the three‑gold tally achieved at Birmingham 2022, establishing a new high-water mark for Indian boxing on the Commonwealth stage.
