Age Is Not a Barrier, Yadav Advises Emerging Players on Persistence

Surya Kumar Yadav, who made his India debut at 31 after years of strong performances in domestic leagues and the IPL, spoke on August 29 about age myths in cricket. He emphasized that a player's destiny is not written by the calendar but by preparation and perseverance.

The former captain recounted how he waited for his opportunity, travelling on cramped trains for domestic fixtures and staying ready for the call. He noted that many young Indian cricketers feel a ticking clock, believing that failing to break through by 21 or 25 ends their dreams.

Yadav dismissed this notion, stating, "Age is just a number. What matters is how you prepare each day and how you respond to pressure." He urged upcoming talent to keep building their skills, especially when nobody is watching.

According to Yadav, consistent performance remains the most reliable route to catching the eye of the national selection committee.
