Will Abhishek Sharma become the fourth Indian to 6,000 T20I runs?

New Delhi, July 23 – As India prepares to face Zimbabwe in a three‑match T20 International series, one name is generating buzz in the dressing room: Abhishek Sharma. The batsman has 5,984 runs from 199 T20 innings, and a quick 16‑run knock in the opening game would lift him past the 6,000‑run milestone.

The achievement would place Sharma alongside Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill – the only Indians to have ever surpassed that figure. Rahul recorded the feat in just 166 innings, Kohli in 184, and Gill in 185, underscoring the significance of Sharma’s potential entry.

On a broader scale, a 126‑run haul across the series would see Sharma overtake Shikhar Dhawan’s 1,759‑run tally, making him the second‑highest run‑getter for India in T20Is after Kohli.

Should he finish the series as the highest scorer for India against Zimbabwe, Sharma would also eclipse his own series record, moving from second place (179 runs in six matches) to the top, just behind Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza, who has 194 runs from 11 games.
