Aarti Singh Rao’s Journey: Medal Wins, Record Breaks, and Political Rise

Born on 3 July 1979, Aarti Singh Rao turned a childhood scare into a celebrated shooting career. Her father’s practice sessions transformed fear into precision, enabling her to claim a silver medal at the 2003 women’s skeet competition in Delhi, followed by a bronze in Bangkok 2004, gold in 2005, and another silver in 2009.

Rao eclipsed the legendary Mancher Singh’s fourteen national titles, establishing herself as a dominant force in Indian skeet shooting. Her academic background from Delhi University complements a lineage of political influence—grandfather Rav Birendra Singh once led Haryana as chief minister, and her father holds a central cabinet post.

Transitioning to politics, Rao won the Atteli seat in the 2024 Haryana Legislative Assembly and now serves as the state’s health minister. She simultaneously chairs the Haryana Para Sports Association, promoting inclusivity in sports for differently‑abled athletes.
