Raipur. The 31st National Junior Fencing Boys-Girls Competition got off to a great start today at Agrasen Dham in the capital Raipur, during which 536 boys and girls players from about 26 states of the country performed a spectacular march past on the melodious tune of the police band and greeted the chief guests of the program. Salute was given, during this, Raipur Rural MLA Motilal Sahu, who was presiding over the program, Rajiv Mehta (General Secretary, Indian Fencing Federation) and Rajpal Singh Tyagi, former IAS, participated in the program as special guests.

In the welcome address, Organizing Secretary of State Fencing Association, Ajit Singh Patel said that 800 participants including players and officials are participating in this national event. Presiding over the program, Rajeev Mehta, while appreciating the organization of State Fencing for better arrangements for the players in the state, expressed his gratitude to the Chhattisgarh State Government. Providing better facilities to the players will definitely improve their morale and performance along with sports. Development is also visible.
In the opening ceremony of the program, Chhattisgarh’s national player Rashman Kaur Dhiman administered the oath to the players. During this, the new MLA of Raipur Rural, Motilal Sahu said in his address, ‘I have become a part of this big sports event for the first time, it is a matter of great joy and pride that this event is being organized in my assembly constituency of our capital. Such events definitely provide a platform and recognition to players from the entire state. He said that he will try to make arrangements for the players coming from different states to visit the tourist places of Chhattisgarh.
Three players from Chhattisgarh reached knock out round
Today the individual foil competition was held in the women’s category, in which three players from Chhattisgarh performed brilliantly and entered the knock out round. In which the names of Yukti Dubey, Deepanshi Netam, Bhumika Sahu are included. In her opening match, Yukti Dubey defeated Trisha Tiwari of Uttar Pradesh 5-0, while Sonali Patel reached the knock-out round by defeating Odisha 5-0 and Gujarat 5-4. Similarly, Deepanshi Netam reached the knock out round by defeating Jharkhand, Odisha, Rajasthan, MP and Punjab. Bhumika Sahu reached the knock-out round by defeating Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Bihar, Maya Sahu defeated Manipur. In the individual competition in the boys category, Chhattisgarh’s Himanshu Netam, Ishan Jaiswal, Janardan Sahu entered the knock out round.
In the 31st National Junior Fencing Boys-Girls Competition, former MLA Raipur Rural Nand Kumar Sahu, General Secretary of Chhattisgarh Lawn Tennis Association Gurucharan Singh Hora, Leeladhar Chandrakar, former councilor, Rani Durgavati Ward 50, Raipur, Bashir Ahmed Khan, General Secretary Chhattisgarh Pradesh Fencing Association, Sameer Khan, General Secretary Chhattisgarh Handball Association, Razia Khan, President Organizing Committee, Shaikh Asif Co-Secretary Organizing Committee, Kamal Ruparel Co-Secretary Organizing Committee, Nikhil Kumar Jambhulkar Co-Secretary, Organizing Committee, Ram Pratap Gupta, Treasurer of the Organizing Committee, V Johnson Solomon, Member of the Organizing Committee, Mohnish Verma along with officials of Chhattisgarh State Fencing Association, officials of Fencing Association of India and officials from different states were present.
