Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav released two Cheetahs in Gandhinagar’s Kuno National Park on April 20. He said”History has been written today, as two cheetahs have been released in Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary. I congratulate the countrymen…PM Modi had pledged to make Madhya Pradesh a cheetah state on the occasion of his birthday…Taking that pledge forward, we released cheetahs in Kuno National Park…due to which the state has become a centre of research…’Project Cheetah’ will also provide employment opportunities to many people…”Notably, Project Cheetah was launched to revive the presence of the extinct Cheetah in the country. As part of the first-ever intercontinental translocation of the species, 20 cheetahs were brought to Kuno National Park–eight from Namibia in September 2022 and 12 from South Africa in February 2023.
