Donald Trump’s approval ratings have reached their lowest point during his current tenure, according to the latest Gallup poll. The survey reveals that Trump garnered only 36% approval, a figure lower than that of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, who achieved 44% in the same poll. This marks a significant decline, nearing his all-time low of 34% recorded in January 2021 following the U.S. Capitol attack. Among political figures, Secretary of State Marco Rubio was the only other to surpass the 40% approval mark. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate GOP Leader John Thune received the lowest ratings at 28% and 34% respectively. Other notable figures included Vice President JD Vance with 39%, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth at 36%, House Speaker Mike Johnson with 35%, and Attorney General Pam Bondi also at 36%. Gallup conducted the survey with over 1,000 U.S. adults between December 1st and 15th. The poll also highlighted deep partisan divisions in perceptions of Trump’s leadership, with a vast majority of Republicans viewing him positively, while a much smaller percentage of Independents shared this view. Economic sentiment also appears to be a factor, as only 21% of respondents described current economic conditions as excellent or good, with 31% rating them as only fair. Trump has previously called for Powell’s resignation, frequently clashing over interest rate policies.
