In a significant breakthrough, security forces have apprehended a notorious wanted Maoist leader, Motilal Kisku, in Giridih after a two-decade-long manhunt. Kisku, who was involved in the Giridih prisoner van incident, was captured during a joint operation by the Bihar STF and paramilitary forces. The elusive operative had been evading capture for approximately 20 years before being apprehended in the Deori police station area of Giridih. Acting on a tip-off, authorities successfully detained Kisku on Thursday night while he was reportedly resting in his village. The joint operation involved police and personnel from Chakai, leading to the arrest. Motilal Kisku, a resident of Hirni village in Chakai, Jamui district, had been an active member of the Maoist organization for two decades. He is implicated in the murder of Jivlal Paswan in Chakai and faces multiple charges related to Maoist activities in various police stations across Jamui and Giridih. Previously, Kisku was part of the squad led by Chirag Da, a zonal committee member and slain Maoist leader, where he was known to carry an AK-47 rifle. His involvement in the prisoner van attack that occurred 16 years ago in Giridih has also come to light. Police sources indicate that Motilal Kisku possessed crucial information regarding weapons hidden by Maoists in the Naxal-affected border areas between Giridih and Jamui, specifically in Poza Bamoria. Following his arrest, an intensive search operation is underway in the region.
