The Raigad unit of Mumbai Police raided the house of Arnab Goswami, owner and chief editor of Republic TV, on Wednesday morning and arrested him in a case of abetment to suicide. After which the Editors Guild of India has given a big statement.
The statement issued by the Editors Guild said that we condemn the arrest of Arnab Goswami, Editor-in-Chief of Republic TV. The Mumbai Police did not correct Arnab’s arrest.
The Editors Guild asked Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray to ensure that Arnab Goswami is treated fairly. State government should not use its power in a wrong way against critical reporting on exercising the right to freedom of expression.
