BJP takes jibe at Congress Govt
Commenting on the Cabinet decision regarding hiking the excise duty rates and closing down 50 liquor shops, Bharatiya Janata Party said that the State Government instead of fulfilling the promise of total prohibition, is planning to fill its coffers from liquor sale.

In a statement issued by BJP State Spokesperson Srichand Sundrani said the Chhattisgarh government has tricked the people of Chhattisgarh on the issue of implementing total prohibition. He said that the state government by closing down merely 50 liquor outlets, wants to earn accolades, on the contrary, it is clearly misleading people. He said that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had recently stated that whenever the society will demand, total prohibition will be implemented. The truth is right from poor to rich, all cross-section of society want that total prohibition in the state but it is an irony that the Congress government after making promise of total prohibition is back tracking from its implementation. Sundrani further added that instead of closing down, the State Government is all set to earn more revenue from the liquor business by hiking the excise duty on liquor.
