Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has announced that Reliance Jio plans to launch its 5G service in the country in the second quarter of 2021. Speaking at the Indian Mobile Congress, Mukesh Ambani said that policies are needed to make 5G services early in the country and to make it affordable to make it available everywhere.
Mukesh Ambani said that I can assure you that Jio will be at the forefront of 5G revolution in India and in the second quarter of 2021 we will start our 5G services. He said that domestically developed network, hardware and technology equipment will be used in it. Jio’s 5G service will be the biggest step ever taken towards self-reliant India.
He said that today India is among the best digitally-connected countries in the world. But here 300 million phone users are still stuck in 2G and policy steps are needed to bring them into the world of smartphones, so that they too can become capable of digital transactions. He said that India has full potential to grow as a manufacturing center for semiconductor. We cannot depend on large quantities of imports.
