Ranchi’s Cambridge Institute of Technology (CIT) launched its Annual Sports Meet, ‘Varchasva 2025,’ with great fanfare on Thursday. The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Deputy Registrar Manish Nath, who lit the ceremonial lamp and cut the ribbon. A formal puja and havan ceremony also preceded the inauguration.
The five-day sports extravaganza will conclude on December 23rd. Students will compete in a wide array of sports including cricket, football, badminton, basketball, kabaddi, volleyball, kho-kho, carrom, and various athletics events. This year’s meet sees an impressive participation of 1500 students from both the Cambridge Institute of Technology and the Cambridge Institute of Polytechnic.
Following the inauguration, Principal Dr. L. Ranganathan administered an oath of sportsmanship and harmony to all participants. Vice-Principal Prof. Rasika Navneet Singh addressed the attendees, emphasizing that competition involves both wins and losses, and that setbacks should inspire greater effort in the future. She also highlighted the importance of maintaining camaraderie and goodwill among classmates.
The opening ceremony featured guests lighting a torch, which was then carried around the field by students, accompanied by vibrant fireworks. Among those present were Dr. Pallavi Singh (Joint Secretary, Cambridge Trust of India), Estate Officer Sunita Nath, Dr. D.K. Singh, Principal of Cambridge Polytechnic Dr. N.K. Yadav, Sangeeta Singh, Prof. Deepak Kumar Verma, Prof. Ankit Kumar Singh, Professor In-charge Sports Prof. Prashank Mani, Coordinator Anwar Alam, and heads of all departments along with faculty members.
