In a significant victory against petty crime in the national capital, Delhi Police arrested Lakshmi, an 18-year-old maid, for pilfering Rs 5,63,000 from her employer’s residence in Punjabi Bagh. The raid yielded Rs 2,66,600 in cash, fueling hopes of full recovery.
It all began on January 15 with a PCR call reporting the burglary. Officers arrived at the scene, documented the complaint, and registered an FIR on January 16, kicking off a high-intensity probe.
To combat the surge in local thefts, Inspector Sanjay Dahiya spearheaded a special task force including HC Mukesh, under the watchful eyes of ACP Shivam and DCP West’s Sharad Bhaskar Darade.
Investigators delved into more than 25 CCTV recordings and tapped into community tips and field intel, pinpointing Lakshmi as the culprit. The maid, who worked at the affected house, was nabbed quickly. She admitted to the crime, leading to the seizure of part of the loot.
With a clean slate until now, Lakshmi’s arrest has shocked the neighborhood. Questioning continues to uncover any larger network, as police seize the cash legally.
This bust not only returns substantial funds to the victim but also sends a strong message to potential thieves: Delhi Police is vigilant. Legal action proceeds as the force commits to thorough justice.
