Palamu, India – Palamu Police have intensified their crackdown on illegal cultivation and trafficking of narcotic substances, demonstrating a firm commitment to eradicating the drug trade. In a significant operation on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, police teams across different police station areas took decisive action, destroying acres of illicit opium crops and employing advanced technology to surveil and secure potential cultivation sites.
In the Manatu police station area, specifically in the forest regions of Jhanti village, authorities received intelligence regarding large-scale opium farming. Acting swiftly, a police team arrived at the location and identified approximately 7 acres of opium plants in their early stages of growth. The crop was systematically destroyed by using tractors, sending a strong message to those involved in illicit activities. This decisive move by the Palamu police has created a stir among drug traffickers.
Meanwhile, in the Pipratand police station area, law enforcement utilized modern technology, deploying drone cameras for aerial surveillance and physical verification of the entire region. Fortunately, no opium cultivation was found during this inspection. The police observed a positive shift, noting that farmers in previously affected areas are now cultivating legal crops like pulses and oilseeds, indicating a move away from illegal practices. To prevent any resurgence of illicit farming, the police have decided to maintain continuous patrolling and surveillance in these areas.
Palamu Police reiterated their resolve to continue this campaign until the production and trafficking of narcotic substances are completely curbed. They have appealed to the public for cooperation, urging citizens to report any information regarding illegal cultivation or trafficking immediately. Assurances of complete confidentiality regarding the informant’s identity have been provided.
