A significant political dispute has erupted in Barkagaon following a controversial Rs 12 lakh tender issued by NTPC for the residence of current MLA Roshanlal Chaudhary in Patratu. Former MLA Amba Prasad directly challenged Chaudhary, alleging his complicity with mining companies at the expense of local constituents. During a press conference at her Hazaribagh residence, Prasad detailed the grievances of the region’s people, including displacement, joblessness, unresolved cut-off date issues, and frequent road accidents. She accused the MLA of prioritizing company interests over the welfare of his constituents, suggesting he receives benefits from these corporations. Prasad further criticized Chaudhary’s tenure, stating that after a year in office, he has failed to introduce any new development initiatives, instead repackaging old projects as new achievements, which she termed a deception of the public. She asserted that Barkagaon’s development has stagnated under his leadership. Prasad also questioned NTPC’s operations, highlighting their sole focus on coal transportation while neglecting local concerns, particularly the struggles of displaced families with basic amenities. She emphasized that the area remains at a standstill compared to when she left office, with no significant progress made. The former MLA concluded by urging the public to awaken and mobilize, stating that a people’s movement is crucial for the region’s development, the rights of the displaced, and the future of its youth.
