Jharkhand OBC Quota Protest: Thousands Demand 27% Reservation

Thousands of individuals from the Kushwaha community converged in Ranchi to advocate for the reinstatement of 27% Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation, a significant increase from the current 14%. The demonstration, organized by the Jharkhand Kushwaha Mahasabha, took place at Lok Bhawan near the Raj Bhavan. Led by Sohanlal Mehta, the central president of the Kushwaha Samaj Karnpura region, participants from Barkagaon and Keredari marched with slogans, powerfully voicing their demands for rightful entitlements.

Prior to their departure for the capital, a large gathering assembled at Mangal Bazaar Nyantand, where impassioned chants echoed the collective resolve. The protest signifies a determined effort to reclaim what the community perceives as their due in the reservation policy. This mobilization highlights the growing concerns among OBC communities regarding representation and equitable access to opportunities within the state.
