Jharkhand’s Sahibganj district has finalized all arrangements for the Kharif Marketing Year 2025-26 paddy procurement. Over 25 government procurement centers are now operational across the district, ready to purchase paddy from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). This initiative aims to connect farmers from remote villages directly with the government purchasing system, eliminating intermediaries and ensuring fair prices. The paddy purchase officially commenced on December 15, 2025. The state government has set the support price at ₹2450 per quintal, which includes the MSP and a state bonus, providing significant financial benefit to the farmers. Payments will be directly credited to farmers’ bank accounts within 48 hours of transaction, with approximately ₹8.60 crore allocated for this scheme. To enhance farmer convenience and ensure transparency, an e-procurement portal and e-Point of Sale (POS) machines will be utilized. This year, upgraded 4G POS devices are replacing older 2G models, promising improved internet connectivity and faster payment processing. Farmers can register on the portal and book time slots at their nearest center to avoid long queues. This comprehensive procurement drive is expected to boost the income of thousands of rice-growing farmers in Sahibganj and significantly strengthen the rural economy through timely payments and digital oversight.
