India’s U19 team commenced their Asia Cup campaign with a resounding victory, defeating the UAE by a massive 234 runs. The dominant performance was spearheaded by Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who smashed a brilliant 171 off just 95 balls. Suryavanshi’s explosive innings included nine boundaries and an incredible 14 sixes, setting a new tournament record for most sixes in an innings.
Supporting Suryavanshi’s onslaught were crucial half-centuries from Aaron George (69) and Vihaan Malhotra (69). Contributions from Vedant Trivedi (38), Abhigyan Kundu (32), and Kanishk Chouhan (28) further bolstered India’s total to a record-breaking 433/6. This score marks the highest ever in the U19 Asia Cup and is the third-highest team total in men’s U19 ODI history.
In response, the UAE U19 team struggled to keep pace and managed only 199/7 in their allotted 50 overs. Uddish Suri’s unbeaten 78 and Prithvi Madhu’s fifty offered some resistance, but it was not enough to challenge India’s formidable total. India U19 will now look ahead to a highly anticipated group stage match against Pakistan U19 on Sunday.
