In Pakistan, a severe legal action has been initiated against Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, and approximately 400 other individuals. An First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against them for staging a protest outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. The FIR includes charges under the Anti-Terrorism Act, signaling the seriousness of the alleged offenses. Police contend that the demonstration escalated into violence, resulting in several arrests and accusations of conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and assaults on law enforcement officers.
The case was registered at the Saddar police station, naming 35 individuals, including Aleema Khan, Qasim Khan, Noreen Niazi, Aliya Hamza, and Salman Akram Raja. A significant number of other protesters are listed as unidentified. The FIR also invokes Section 120, pertaining to criminal conspiracy to incite an attack against the state. According to police reports, 14 individuals were apprehended at the protest site and subsequently presented before an anti-terrorism court. They are accused of violating Section 144 and engaging in violent acts against the police.
Authorities claim the protesters chanted anti-government slogans, blocked roads, and incited further unrest, causing disruption for local residents. The FIR details allegations of stone-pelting and the throwing of glass bottles at police personnel, who were reportedly attempting to carry out their duties despite the escalating situation. This development comes amid ongoing speculation about Imran Khan’s potential transfer from Adiala Jail due to frequent supporter protests.
