A new chapter in Indian youth hockey begins as the 18-member team for the Men’s Under-18 Asia Cup 2026 has been officially named. The tournament will be hosted by Japan from May 29 to June 6 in Kakamigahara. Selection followed a rigorous training camp at the SAI Bhopal facility, guided by coaches Sardar Singh and Rajneesh Mishra. Ahead of departure, the team tested itself against Australia’s Under-18 squad in a four-match series played in Bhopal. Ketan Kushwaha has been handed the captaincy. Results against Australia showed one win, one loss, and two draws. India must navigate a challenging pool featuring Kazakhstan, Japan, South Korea and Chinese Taipei. Fixtures include a May 29 opener versus Kazakhstan, a high-stakes clash with Japan on May 31, South Korea on June 1, and Chinese Taipei on June 3. Knockout stages are set for June 5 and the final on June 6.
