Hazaribagh’s Sadar MLA, Pradeep Prasad, conducted a surprise inspection of the main drinking water store at the Chhadwa Dam on Sunday. The MLA expressed significant dissatisfaction upon witnessing the dilapidated and concerning condition of the facility. The inspection revealed a severe accumulation of dirt and grime within the water store. Crucially, it was observed that the supplied water was not being treated with bleaching powder, nor was there any effective system for regular sanitation. The presence of algae in the water poses a serious threat to public health. MLA Prasad also highlighted that the area surrounding the water store is littered with garbage and exhibits disarray, pointing to a gross neglect of maintenance and cleaning by the responsible department.
In response to this critical situation, Pradeep Prasad issued immediate directives to the Municipal Commissioner and relevant departmental officials. He mandated a comprehensive cleaning of the entire water supply system, strict adherence to regular bleaching powder usage, and an unconditional guarantee of uninterrupted supply of clean and safe drinking water to city residents. The MLA unequivocally stated that any negligence concerning essential services like drinking water is completely unacceptable. He assured continuous monitoring of the issue and pledged to keep the department informed for further action, ensuring that every household in Hazaribagh receives timely access to potable and secure water.
