Madhya Pradesh’s roads claimed another life in a brazen hit-and-run case in Khargone, where a careless driver mowed down innocent pedestrians and a biker before escaping. The accident in Maheshwar tehsil’s Dharagaon area has sparked outrage, with one fatality and three serious injuries reported.
The sequence of events began at approximately 9 AM when a car racing at breakneck speed collided with motorcyclist Munna Karma (55), en route to purchase spices. The impact also felled Kailash (52) and Shubham, who was carrying his young daughter on the bike. Post-collision, the car crashed into a roadside tree, coming to a halt, but the driver vanished.
Victims were rushed to local medical facilities. Tragically, Munna Karma breathed his last during treatment. Shubham’s daughter and another injured person were treated and released, while one remains under observation in Dhamnod.
Dharagaon police, led by Investigating Officer Deepak Yadav, have launched a manhunt. The abandoned car’s registration is being verified, and surrounding CCTV recordings are under review. A graphic video of the crash has gone viral, aiding the probe.
Charges of negligent driving resulting in death have been filed. This corridor, linking key towns and just 54 km from Khargone headquarters, demands urgent safety upgrades amid frequent high-volume traffic. Community leaders call for stricter enforcement to curb such callous acts.
