A shocking case has emerged in the Chetadih area of Giridih district, where a woman, identifying herself as a ‘Sahia’ (health worker), is accused of defrauding pregnant women. The allegations state that this individual lures vulnerable pregnant women, promising better care, and then transports them to private hospitals. Once at these private facilities, exorbitant fees are allegedly charged, causing significant financial distress to impoverished women. The accused, identified as Anjali Devi, reportedly operates near the Chetadih hospital, preying on women seeking government healthcare. Locals claim she has established a base of operations, possibly from a hotel she owns nearby, to facilitate these fraudulent activities. This alleged exploitation of the poor and uneducated is causing widespread anger in the community. Activists and residents are demanding an impartial investigation by the health department, strict action against the imposter Sahia, and immediate measures to protect pregnant women from such predatory practices. If proven true, these accusations cast a dark shadow over the integrity of the local healthcare system.
