Bageshwar Dham’s Dhirendra Shastri has broken his silence regarding the controversy surrounding his travel by chartered aircraft to Chhattisgarh. While attending a religious event in Bhilai, Shastri addressed the criticism head-on, emphasizing his status as an Indian citizen. He stated that questions about his mode of transportation were misplaced, as he is not a foreigner and should not be singled out.
Shastri highlighted the discrepancy between the scrutiny he faces and the freedom afforded to those who allegedly harm the nation or exploit public resources. He pointed out his own work in promoting Sanatan values, supporting healthcare initiatives, facilitating marriages for underprivileged girls, and combating drug addiction, questioning why such activities warrant criticism regarding travel arrangements.
The spiritual leader, accompanied by state minister Guru Khushwant Saheb, suggested that the responsibility for his travel arrangements lay with those who organized it. He expressed his intent to avoid further comments to prevent escalating the debate, asserting he holds no animosity towards his critics. Shastri also acknowledged the support he received and the role of media in amplifying public discourse.
