A recent CCTV video circulating on several news channels, showing a meeting between a Congress leader and Babulal Marandi within the Assembly premises, has sparked controversy. The footage, reportedly from December 10, 2025, around 11 AM, captures a routine scene at the Vidhan Sabha where MLAs, media, and administrative staff are commonly present. This public area, a main gate used by all legislators, has become the subject of what the Congress leader describes as a “false and misleading narrative” being constructed by some media outlets.
The leader vehemently refuted claims that a pen drive was exchanged, labeling them as “completely false, baseless, and imaginary.” The interaction, according to the leader, was a discussion about a newspaper report that had been published. This report was a topic the leader intended to raise in the Assembly, but Marandi had already brought it up. The subsequent conversation at the Assembly gate, a public thoroughfare frequented by many, was solely concerning this news item. The leader’s hands were occupied with a mobile phone and a newspaper in one, and a handkerchief in the other, during the daylight discussion.
The leader questioned the logic of any clandestine activity occurring in such a public, well-monitored space, suggesting that such an act would be illogical given the constant presence of people and CCTV surveillance. A strong appeal was made for viewers to watch the video carefully and determine if a transaction took place or if it was merely a discussion on a public matter.
Furthermore, the leader alluded to a “well-orchestrated conspiracy” aimed at discrediting them since they joined the Congress. This alleged lobby, the leader stated, has previously attempted to form a ‘Birsa Congress,’ tried to break Congress MLAs, and obstructed their merger in the past legislative term. Despite these efforts, the leader vowed to continue championing the voice of the public and raising issues concerning public interest.
