Chhattisgarh has released its draft electoral rolls following a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, with a significant update: over 27 lakh names have been deleted from the state’s voter list. This comprehensive revision aims to ensure accuracy and transparency in the electoral process. The Election Commission’s objective is to meticulously include all eligible voters while removing any ineligible entries. This effort saw over 1.84 crore electors submit enumeration forms. Key deletions include 6.42 lakh deceased voters, 19.13 lakh individuals who had relocated or were absent, and 1.79 lakh voters found to be registered multiple times. The successful completion of this SIR phase was a result of widespread collaboration, involving electoral officers across 33 districts, registration officials, and over 30,000 volunteers, with active participation from political parties and their Booth Level Agents. Citizens can verify their inclusion in the draft rolls by visiting the official Chief Electoral Officer website or the national voter portal, using their EPIC number or personal details.
