Baghel favours survey to link Shivnath to water bodies

After the demand raised by residents of Kumhari and nearby villages, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday asked the Durg District Collector to prepare a survey report within 10 days on the proposal given by villagers.

A demand came before the Chief Minister at a social function of Manwa Kurmi Kshtriya Samaj at Saklor Village of Baloda bazaar district.

The residents of Kumhari and nearby villages demanded that the water of Shivnath river could be brought from Somnath banks and could be linked to lakes and other water bodies of Kumhari and nearby villages. It would quench the thirst of at least 43 villages including Saklor, the villages demanded.

The chief minister assured the villagers that money would not be an impediment for welfare of farmers and if the project was viable it would be surely accomplished.

State President of social organization, Dr Ramkumar Sirmaur, Rajya Sabha Member Chhaya Verma, Local MLA Pramod Kumar Sharma, MLAs Chandradeo Rai, and Dr Vinay Jaiswal were also present on the occasion.
