In a heartbreaking incident on Uttar Pradesh’s National Highway-9, a 17-year-old lost his life instantly after a speeding car collided with his motorcycle near Joya in Amroha district. His companion fights for life in hospital.
The victims, Etisham from Nilikhedi village and Masoom Hasan, were heading home on the bike after a trip to Joya. Suddenly, a car approaching from the rear struck them violently. Both youths were thrown off the bike, and the car flipped after hitting the central divider.
Etisham, just 17, died at the accident site. Masoom, badly hurt, received immediate aid from passersby and was admitted to a local facility in serious condition.
Traffic ground to a halt on the highway as debris and damaged vehicles blocked both lanes, leading to extensive backups. Responding officers managed the chaos, removed the vehicles, and conducted post-mortem on the deceased.
Speeding and careless driving are suspected culprits, according to initial reports. Police are using nearby CCTV to identify and apprehend the fleeing driver. An FIR has been filed, launching a full investigation.
Officials highlight the dangers of high speeds on highways, noting this tragedy has devastated a family. The injured youth is out of danger, but the loss of a promising life serves as a stark reminder for road safety.
