Chhttisgarh would promote industries from other sectors also besides iron and coal with special focus on Agro-based units, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has said.
In his address at the programme organized by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) here on Tuesday night, the Chief Minister said that the State is known for abundant production of banana, corn, tomato, chickpeas etc; but only paddy-based processing industries have been promoted and established.
In the near future, industries based on processing other crops should also be promoted. The State has sufficient resources for establishing IT, Health and Agro-based industries, he said.
Chhattisgarh is well connected to other states. Industry Department is always in support of such industries, and it will encourage establishment of these industries in compliance with environment rules. Setting up industries would generate employment and revenue both, Baghel said.
On the occasion, industrialists shared suggestions and grievances related to various industries and demanded a new industrial policy.
The Chief Minister issued directives to officials for constituting a high-powered committee for drafting a new industrial policy.
He also said he chair meeting of officials and industrialists for resolution of grievances.
In the discussion, industrialists said that many a times, benefits of the resources available in the state often goes to other states, rather than local industries. Baghel said that Chhattisgarh is rich in iron, coal and other resources. Industries in the state should be provided sufficient supply of resources with priority. Dairy industry/animal husbandry related works are in major focus under Narva, Garua, Ghurva, Bari programme, he said.
