Ahead of the elections, another minister quits from the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government from Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.

Minister of Labour of Uttar Pradesh Swami Prasad Maurya resigned from the cabinet and joined Samajwadi Party.

Welcoming the move, the SP chief Akhilesh Yadav took it to Twitter and shared a picture of welcoming Maurya and other leaders said, “Warm welcome and greetings to the popular leader Shri Swami Prasad Maurya ji who fought for social justice and equality and all the other leaders, workers and supporters who came with him in SP.”

“Despite a divergent ideology, I worked with dedication in the Yogi Adityanath cabinet. But because of the grave oppression of Dalits, OBCs, farmers, unemployed and small businessmen, I am resigning,” Maurya wrote in a stinging resignation letter.
