Three Naval personnel killed in a blast onboard Indian Naval Ship Ranvir

NEW DELHI: Three Naval Personnel of the Indian Navy lost their lives in an explosion aboard their ship.

Indian Navy in its statement said, “In an unfortunate incident on Monday at Naval Dockyard Mumbai, three naval personnel succumbed to injuries caused by an explosion in an internal compartment onboard INS Ranvir.”

No major material damage has been reported, the Navy added.

The ship’s crew responded immediately and quickly brought the situation under control.

INS Ranvir was on cross-coast operational deployment from the Eastern Naval Command from Nov 2021 and was due to return to base port shortly. A Board of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause.

INS Ranvir is a Rajput Class Destroyer.
