Hemant Biswa Sarma became the new Chief Minister of Assam, PM Modi wrote this while congratulating

In Assam, senior BJP leader Hemant Biswa Sarma has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of the state, which was administered by Governor Jagdish Mukhi on Monday. BJP national president JP Nadda was also present at the swearing-in ceremony. Earlier on Sunday, he was elected as the leader of the legislature party after several rounds of meetings. His name was proposed by former Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal himself.

Narendra Modi has congratulated Hemant Biswa Sarma on becoming the Chief Minister of Assam. At the same time, PM Modi said that I am confident that this team will accelerate the development journey of Assam and fulfill the aspirations of the people.

Let me tell you that he is the third leader to come to the BJP from Congress to become the Chief Minister in the northeastern state. Talking about Hemant Biswa Sarma, he joined BJP after resigning from Congress in July 2014. He was then the Minister of Education in the Congress Government and wanted to become the Chief Minister. He was accompanied by about 38 MLAs. But his demand was ignored by the Congress leadership. Hemant Biswa Sarma then resigned, opening a front against the then Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and joined the BJP.
