Youth Participation Highlighted in Rajasthan Urban Elections, Shekhawat Says

The last round of voting for Rajasthan’s municipal bodies was held on Friday, with citizens lining up across cities and towns.

Om Birla, the Lok Sabha Speaker, told journalists that the strength of democracy lies in voter involvement and that higher turnout will make institutions more answerable to the people.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, after voting, expressed confidence that the BJP will clinch a sweeping victory, predicting a two‑third majority in the municipal corporation.

He highlighted that youth participation has surged since the 2014 general elections, and that young voters now clearly understand how their ballots can shape the future of their neighbourhoods, the state and the country.

Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot countered, claiming the BJP government’s machinery has been ineffective for the past two and a half years, leaving the situation fragile and demanding public engagement.

Heeralal Nagar, a state minister, urged everyone to exercise their voting right, noting that a larger voter base conveys the collective mood and validates government initiatives.
