Youth Employment Issues Take Centre Stage as Singh Criticises Madhya Pradesh Govt

New Delhi, October 6 – The debate over the Ladli Bahna initiative in Bhopal has shifted to a broader discussion about youth unemployment in Madhya Pradesh. Opposition figure Umar Singh used Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s "burden" comment to highlight systemic neglect of the state’s 22 lakh job‑seeking youth.

Singh pointed out that the Ladli Bahna scheme, originally presented as a celebration of sisters, was reduced to a political talking point, betraying its core message of respect and support for women. He asserted that the remark not only disrespected sisters but also signalled the government's indifference to pressing social issues.

The opposition leader demanded answers on why the unemployment portal lists millions of idle job seekers while the state fails to launch large‑scale recruitment drives. He asked the CM to present a detailed plan for the "Youth Year 2027" celebrations, ensuring that the event translates into real employment.

Singh also pressed for the swift release of MPPSC examination results, noting that candidates have waited months for outcomes that affect their careers. He urged the administration to honor the pending 13 percent reservation for backward classes by taking the matter back to the Supreme Court.

Referencing a recent incident where chairs were thrown at a public gathering, Singh warned that disillusioned youth may resort to more aggressive forms of protest if their concerns remain unheard. He called on the government to engage directly with young voters and address their demands.

In his closing remarks, Singh praised a teacher who restored a rundown school, condemning the education department’s notice as a punitive measure against community service. He appealed for a policy shift that rewards grassroots contributions rather than penalising them.
