Across India, students and young women have taken to the streets to demand the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Congress national spokesperson Surendra Rajput in Lucknow warned that the demonstration would continue until the commissioner resigns, saying the youth are aware of alleged vote‑rigging. Samajwadi Party spokesperson Fakhrul Hasan Chand added that the entire country knows about the alleged malpractice. He argued that democratic expression through dharnas should be permitted. Law enforcement in Delhi has placed several protesters in custody near Connaught Place.
