IIT Delhi is setting a new benchmark in academic research support with its latest flagship program aimed at empowering its youngest and brightest faculty. Under the Deepak Raghavan Family Foundation Accelerator Program, professors aged 45 or younger can secure five-year endowed chair professorships complete with tailored funding and resources.
This flexible funding pool covers everything from high-end machinery and software acquisitions to field expeditions, prototype development, and employing post-doctoral talent. The emphasis is on fostering industry partnerships to ensure research outcomes lead to tangible technologies and patents that benefit society.
Beyond finances, participants gain access to research staff and infrastructure, freeing them to innovate while fulfilling academic responsibilities. A key feature includes fully funded PhD fellowships renewed every five years, where scholars collaborate with chair holders and gain international experience through conference participations.
Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi, hailed the initiative as a catalyst for the institute’s elite researchers to push boundaries. It aligns with national goals to elevate India in global innovation landscapes.
This comprehensive program not only bolsters research capabilities but also grooms future leaders capable of addressing pressing challenges, marking a milestone in sustained investment in higher education.
